Rani Mukerji is back with a bang as she steps into the shoes of her popular cop character of Shivani Shivaji Roy. Gopi Puthran is also taking over the reins of the film in his hands after Pradeep Sarkar in the second instalment of the ‘Mardaani’ franchise as well.
While Rani is reprising her role from the previous instalment, the film is reported to revolve around her trying to nab a 21-year-old villain played by Vishal Jethwa. ‘Mardaani 2‘ is set in Rajasthan and according to the latest report on Boxofficeindia.com, the film had a low start of around 8-10% today.
The first instalment of the cop thriller franchise managed to do a good business in 2014, ‘Mardaani 2’ might find it difficult to excel at the box office due to Hollywood adventure-comedy film ‘Jumanji: The Next Level‘.
The Jake Kasdan directorial is reported to have a better start than Rani’s film and with BFF’s Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart‘s camaraderie winning over the audience in the previous outing, fans are quite eager to see the two share screen once again.
Meanwhile, talking about the comparisons of her cop character with Salman Khan‘s Chulbul Pandey, Rani quipped, “Chulbul Pandey is a male officer and Shivani Roy is a female officer. Both of them work for the police. Shivani Roy is a superintendent of police, so I am his senior. He still has two stars. That’s the only difference.”
