His father, John, is a math teacher, and his mother, Yolanda, is a housewife. Lee was an athlete as a child and attended Sir Edmund Hillary Primary School, Valley Comprehensive School. He was interested in many sports, such as rugby, football, and cricket. Lee was introduced to golf by his grandparents when he was 13.
